Evidence Collection, Packaging, Submission Standards and Analysis Inspection/Investigation of Commercial Kitchen Hoods and Suppression Systems Morning presentation will cover the laboratory’s suggestions for collection and packaging of evidence to ensure that it can be tested. Various Submission Standards and protocols will be discussed. An overview of the analysis available from the Bureau and how they are conducted will be covered. Inspection/investigation of commercial kitchen hoods and suppression systems will be completed in the afternoon consisting of how appliances and fire systems should be aligned and installed including clearances to combustibles, responsibilities of the installers and maintainers of these systems. This session will also help answer investigative questions of what, why and how things went wrong, which are the most fire susceptible appliances and why. For those attendees pursuing/renewing the recognized Certified Fire Investigator (CFI – IAAI) designation a test will be given at the end of the class. Presents: Expert Report Writing & Practical Approaches to Fire Burn Analysis Morning session will be an overview in expert report writing describing why we write expert reports, how to use the scientific method in the report, requirements of Federal Rules of the Civil Procedure, defense of your report during testimony, and applicable guidelines, protocols and standards that may or will apply. Afternoon session will be how to understand the practical approaches to fire burn analysis by recognizing types of fire patterns and their damage, and then be able to interpret fire behavior from the patterns. Some case examples will be used. For those attendees pursuing/renewing the recognized Certified Fire Investigator (CFI – IAAI) designation a test will be given at the end of the class.
